Fireworks   A national holiday is the first day of a New Year and a celebration of the same.

 January 6,9,23,30 Barbados Horticultural Society
Hibiscus   Barbados Horticultural Society's garden programme and annual flower show. This is where local horticultural enthusiast display their gardens and a variety of exotic flowers.

 January 6,12 Barbados Jazz Festival
Jazz Performance   This production is organised by G.M.R. International Tours Inc. working in conjunction with producers and sponsors network to bring together in a tropical ambiance some of the world's best talent in a week long explosion of Jazz.

 January 21 Errol Barrow Day
Errol Barrow   Errol Walton Barrow a National Hero was born in 1920 and died in 1987. He was the third Premier of Barbados and the leader of the Democratic Labour Party. Mr Barrow is the father of Independence and the first Prime Minister of Barbados as an Independent Nation.

 January 13,20 Holetown Festival
Holetown Festival   The Festival commemorates the landing of the first settlers to Barbados at Holetown St. James in 1627. Highlights include street fairs, the Royal Barbados Police Bandin Concert, a musical festival in the Historic Parish Church and a Queen Show. The Festival celebrated it's 24th year in existance.

 March 3 The Sandy Lane's Gold Cup
Horse Racing   The Sandy Lane's Gold Cup. Barbados' major horse racing event of the year. The running of this prestigious event bring together top class horses from Barbados, Martinique and Trinidad and Tobago. The venue for this nine furlong invitational race is at the historic Garrison Savannah.

 March 14 - April 1 Holder's Opera Season
Pavorotti   Holder's Opera Season. Founded in1993 the Holder's season has already established itself as the premier cultural event in the Caribbean, acclaimed nationally and internationally, the Season is a unique celebration of opera, music and theatre.

 April Good Friday
Last Supper   A commemoration and remembrance of the crucifixion and death of our Lord Jesus Christ.

 April Easter Monday
Jesus   A celebration of the triumphant rise of Jesus Christ from the dead.

 April Oistins Fish Festival
Night at Oistins   This festival celebrates the life and contributions made by this fishing town to the overall development of the island. The program includes fishing, boat racing, fish boning competition, a coast guard exhibition, food stalls, arts and craft, dancing, singing and roadraces.

 April 28 National Heroes Day
National Heroes   A day where there is a celebration of the life of those Barbadians who have made a significant contribution to thecountry.

 April - May Congaline Carnival
Congaline Carnival   The Congaline Carnival is a nine-day carnival which takes place at the end of April. The Congoline village is the heart and soul of the carnival and provides a daily exhibition forum and market place for a myriad of free entertainment, local craft and culture it is dubbed the "World's Greatest Street Party" as it culminates in a one day T-shirt band parade.

 May 1 Labour Day
Labour Day Fun   A national holiday a day where all workers celebrate.

 May Gospel Fest
Gospel Fest   Gospel Fest is a spiritual celebration used by Barbadians for generations to express their African heritage through music. This cadre of songs is captured for three days in May when Local, Caribbean and International gospel artist come together for one of the most exciting concerts of its kind. The Gospelfest is a family event which features a myriad of attractions and back-to-back performances by a variety of gospel singers.
 June 12 Whit Monday
Jesus   A national holiday and a day where we celebrate the accession of Jesus into Heaven.

 July 1 - August 6 Crop Over Festival
East Coast Semifinals   The highlight of the summer is the Crop Over Festival an all island jubilation running from Mid July to early August. Crop Over celebrates the completion of the sugar cane harvest. Competition "Tents" ring with the fierce battle of calypsonians for the coveted Calypso Monarch title award, and the air is redolent with the smell of Barbadian cooking during the massive Bridgetown Market street fair. Rich with the spirit of local culture. The Cohobblopot blends drama, dance and music with the crowning of the King and Queen of costume bands. An exciting evening is the Pic-o-de-Crop show when the King of Calypsois crowned. The climax of the festival is Kadooment Day a national holiday when costume bands fill the streets with pulsating Barbadian rhythms and fireworks ignite the evening sky.

 August 1 Emancipation Day
Bussa Statue   A national holiday a celebration of the abolition of slavery in the West Indies.

 August (1st Monday) Kadooment Day
Kadooment   Is a Barbadian term referring to an important event. It has been adopted as the name of the final event of the annual CropOver Festival and takes place on the first Monday in August. It also attracts the largest crowd for any event at one place in Barbados. Kadooment begins at 8:00 am with parades of masquerading bands passing before judges at the National Stadium and then dancing along the road to Spring Garden.

 August 20-22 Pan in Paradise
Steel Pan   International Steel Band competition for juniors groups expected from U.K., Holland, Switzerland, Florida and the Caribbean.

 November 30 Independance Day
Independace Day Parade   A national holiday and a day where all Barbadians celebrates it's independence from the mother country, England.

 December 25 Christmas Day
Christmas Flower A national holiday day when all Christians celebrate the birth of Christ, with church services and family gatherings.

 December 26 Boxing Day
Birth of Jesus A national holiday where the celebration of our Lords birth is continued by visiting friends, eating and drinking.
